Good morning, good evening, wherever you may be. Welcome back to the thread that states the simple question "What are you working on this weekend". Lets get started.

    Saturday: Work.

Sunday: Believe it or not, it's Father's Day. I would think that this would entitle me to some nice down time and some work on the layout but..... I'm sure we will be busy as I'm not sure what the Domestic Goddess has planned and will no doubt be spending some time with her Dad. Guess we'll see.

So how about you? What is on your list of things to get done this weekend? Let us know. We'll re-assemble on Monday the 22nd to see how we have all done. Until then, have a safe and healthy weekend and to all the Dad's out there...

    Happy Father's Day!

    &

    High Greens!

I'll continue on with my SW8 and SW900 projects - now that the end rails are installed - the rest should be a cake walk.

    Y'all have a great weekend!!

To all of you Dads out there - HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

As always I,ll be doing some food prep for the week ahead and the house could use a good scrub.
I've got 14 models to clear coat and assemble and some decals to design.
Me thinks that I will be busy.

    Enjoy the days.

That's a dang good question this weekend. The Mrs has plans for me both Saturday and Sunday;, re: "Fathers Day". So I'm not sure this weekend. I do have a paving project on the east side of the Albemarle City passenger station. I may bring that along. I've also been inputing my schematic track plan in AutoCad so I can develop a signaling plan. I may work on that as well given I can spend a few minutes here and few minutes there on AutoCad. Signal function will be only loosely similar rules as the C&O, I want the actual cantilevers and masts to be as prototypical as possible mostly to replicate the C&O look. It is a big project in and of itself, but it just needs to happen.

I believe this will be one of the two weekends (my birthday being the other) where I can sit down on Sunday morning and stay at the workbench all day.

With track laying done and wiring complete, I have building kits to finish and scenery to contemplate. Then it will be onto the myriad of rolling stock and locomotive projects I have. Not that I will get blasted through most of them, but its a wide pallet to work from.

This will be a busy weekend for me.

Saturday I will be giving a clinic on painting backdrops. Then we will finish packing and off for a short respite from the world. Gotta wet a line. I hope to have a little time to work on a model I started yesterday. It’s scratch build time again. I am on a deadline to get these done. I have most of the parts cut out. Just need to cut out a roof and struts to hold the roof. I also need to draw in and cut out the windows. Got the man doors done last night. Once all that is done then paint and assembly time.

I'm working on the overhead lights valence for my layout. Currently building two extensions to a 8 foot long valence that is already finished and have enough material to build another 8 footer. Hope to hang up the completed section and two extensions later today. Will add LED lights at a later date, probably next month.

Day off today. Wanted to be around while they were doing some maintenance to the building where I reside. (Barely got out of the shower this morning and they were knocking on my door.) In between their activities, am at the workbench, trying to create a spark arrestor on an HOn30 critter. This has been bugging me for a couple of months now. Wanting to do it with parts and pieces at hand. As yet, have not found the right one...

Wow! More great stuff and plans! Broad pallet to work from, yeah. Domestic Goddess, I chuckle every time I read it. At this point, I have completed and tested the upgraded design of the turnout. I have also designed it to be a "drop-in" module for the production model. I had hoped to have the production turnout installed but I am running behind (as usual). This should occur today unless overcome by "nappage". After that I will start the off-spec track replacement. Things should look better and do better after this. Happy Father's Day to the dads and all be safe, healthy and have fun.

Hoping to make progress on a couple projects. I found a Model Power Vandy tender at the Monroe show in February and have finally begun modifying it for UP Mikado 2295. The prototype is on display at the depot in Boise, Idaho. There are pictures on the web if you want a look. I cut the coal bunker collar from a Bachmann 2-6-6-2. Fitted the right side a while back and hope to complete the left side this weekend. Maybe more progress if it goes well.

Second project is a restoration/improvement effort. I modified a Kato Mike some 20 years ago using Scale Replicas parts. However, I failed to take advantage of Kato's revised drivers when those were available. So I am hoping to improve the pickup following Max Magliaro's method. If that is successful I will restore some of the weathering and details.

A little backstory: I was out of the hobby for several years until about 2016. When I got back in I had the UP 2548 pictured above and 3 Kato Heavy Mikados that were nearly new. One will become UP 2295 and the other two are for NP 1735 and NP 1618. So if anybody has any revised Kato driver sets with no plans to use them, I will give them a good home.:)

This is a rough weekend. My father-in-law passed away on Wednesday. Funeral/graveside service (all we can have due to COVID) is Monday. I have the pickle tank cars to weather and a P-54 combine to decal for Pennsylvania-reading Seashore Lines and an 0-8-0 switcher which I may due as NYO&W. Or maybe I will dig something else out. Depends on how things go moodwise.

I hope to be able to print the finer details of my special tender project by tonight. I got the main design of it done a couple weeks ago, then it always seems I slow down when trying to nail all the details. Anyway - HOPEFULLY by Monday I'll have all this dialed in, printed, and in my hands.
