A month or two ago, I asked Robert Ray how he selected the prototype of his N Scale caboose kits….long story short…thank you Robert Ray!

I have four of his GN/SP&S kits. At 25 N scale feet long they have been just right for me. Lot of fun putting together these laser cut wood kits.

Now I have a simple question...what is the diameter of a MTL bolster pin?

Have to ask the question which one since there are two sizes supplied in each pack. My kits called for Atlas trucks.

The smaller ones for MTL cars, the holes are a little bit too small

I finally dug out my calipers and got 7/64ths or 9.128 mm.

I'd love to find a Robert Ray NYC wood caboose kit.

All the glass is in, the shades are on one side. The grabs are providing to be a pain

Yeah! That's the main part of the project I hate, the forming and mounting grab irons. But here's the rub... Those little grab irons are what really makes the model. They add that fine level of detail that really make you look and appreciate the effort.

This is great! I always wondered if they had custom cabooses like this. I'd love to have one with lights inside ! Not sure if thats possible but have thought about attempting! Can't wait to see the finished product !
