Not exactly train related, but a good thing to have around the house for a tinkerer like me... a Hobart 140 mig welder. I used it tonight to build saddle bag supports for my Harley and who knows I may need to use it for some custom made layout stuff.

I don't understand where is everyone getting all these deals on rolling stock and locomotives. I watch YouTube videos of people showing stuff they got and I'm at a loss. Up here in Canada it seems to be a tradition to overcharge for anything, and rip us another a**hole - just because.

Yea pretty much the same goes here In the US too. But every now and then you can find a screaming deal. The best I ever did was 2 2003 Honda XR80Rs for $30 with titles. Neither ran at the point of pickup but I had one started on starting fluid an hour after I got home and fully rideable a couple weeks later but the second bike needed a complete rebuild (but still sold it all apart for $100 a year later). The deals are out there, you just have to look constantly and jump as soon as you see it.

The original still stands at 2601 E Carson St, Lakewood, CA 90712, it is now Heritage Family Pantry, across the street from a newer Denny's

I need to somehow clone myself and let my clone surf 24/7 for deals.

Hmm, while at it my clone could finish the layout, too. :D

You should have the clone do your chores and pay bills while you work on the layout. Don't give the clone all the fun.

Ordered a pile of MicroScale decals directly from them very late Thu night. Received them at Noon today (Sat). Didn't pay for any special shipping. They're in CA, I'm in IL !!! HOW did they do that ???

That little Cat 315D, I just watch one in action this morning in Skykomish, Wa. It actually has wheels to hy-rail on tracks, and it was pulling a Difco dump car full of trees BNSF cut down along the right of way. Pretty cool little rig!(y)

Ooh I've got a handful of those, usually used in a MotW train but that gives me a good modeling idea.

My latest purchase was electronics, a bunch of sensors for detection. Train-wise it was a selection of 90t Atlas hoppers.

I don't know how I pulled this off? I actually won my FIRST Hallmark locomotive for less than $80! Supposedly never have been used from an estate sale! Free shipping to boot!! I will post photos of it whenever I receive it though I will have it in hand due to my upcoming flight. I will need to get a display case for this one. I know that these are finicky for running. So this will be for display only. I will be converting the rest of my other locomotives to DCC about half are already dcc.

That's what I heard even from spookshow. I wonder if I could mount an atlas GP type undercarriage to this?

yes you can. but you would need to dip or spray a epoxy resin on the frame. I did it to a atlas rs3 frame to repower a brass rs3. and it ran great.

I also have a couple of lifelike gp7's that I can switch out too. I will see what I can do to make this a good running DCC locomotive.

I got the idea from my brass sd70. it has frame stile as the kato gp38 and gp50. they coated it with epoxy. you will need to fashion a way to mount the shell on to the frame.
