Here's a redesign for my door layout. Although this in the 4x8 version.

Well, folks! Maybe by chance our next flight will not be canceled. With this I think that this might be my last post for this thread. I have gone back and forth with this design. It started as a decision between a poorly designed triple and quadruple continuous loop on a 4x8 layout. Then wound up with a door sized double continuous loop of at least my original design and kept the features in what I was wanting on this layout. I want to say thanks to all of you for helping me in working out the kinks and giving me ideas and opinions on what design looked the best. So I will end this design search on what I wanted in my first layout design.

Now with all whats is going on outside. Hopefully my wife and I will make our move without any hiccups to our new home. With this as I've mentioned before. I am not so sure what is the actual dimensions of my future train room. Though if the room is of do able size I will revert back to the original plan of a 4x8 layout. If so doing this I went back to make a one last ditch effort to redesign the old 4x8 to look exactly like the door design. So after of a couple of hours of resizing and running a close proximity of the finished design on the door layout. I was able to replicate an 4x8 layout by matching and using ALL of the pieces that would have come in four packs i.e. the straight and curved pieces or the 12 pack 280mm straights. With the size of the 4x8 I will not make a connecting layout off the interchange track unless I either move or get myself a large shed to accommodate this layout. With this being said, here is the final 4x8 layout design.

I decided to add a bridge on the straightway and put less restrictive curves. Doing this saved some noticeable cash and lessen the likely of string lining a train on the lower end.

I am not going in this direction. I thought that this would be a good operator layout with a huge yard. Compared to my current layout this modified for yard operations. What do y'all think? Too much or cool? Keep in mind on my layout the yard can hold fifty 60' cars or eighty 50' cars with room to spare . The double track fueling/sanding platform can hold eight SD40-2 locomotives with leftover room, four on each track. Each stall on the turntable I can squeeze two GP38-2's on each track. The top right spur track can hold comfortably five 60' cars. The middle left spur can hold three 60' cars. The bottom right spur can support four 60' cars. The interchange track can support one SD40-2 and three 60' cars to clear the switch to back into the bottom right spur.

I did find a happy medium. I did some surgery on the yard of my layout. The top portion will still be the receiving yard. The bottom part I transformed it into a classification yard with two ready tracks next to the main line. The main line still cuts through the center of the yard. The last three tracks are for each industry. Yes, I kept the refueling/sanding tracks for the locomotives though I shorten them a little to hold two SD40-2's each. Also I decided whenever I purchase the turntable I'll buy the turntable extension. This will allow me to add more stalls. The top right long spur track is in question, it's about the length. I might reduce one of the 1022's /280mm tracks from this spur and use this as my programing/wheel cleaning/test track to the side. Instead of three of them there will only be two.

With this I am saving $25 on track alone! Plus my wife likes the newer one too. The only electrical switches I will be using is the three triples. The other left and right hand switches throughout the layout will be all manual throws. Yes, I still will have no leftover tracks on this layout.

Hello y'all I am still waiting to move in our better home that we decided to choose. This will have larger bedrooms and in town. With the time I designed another super yard layout from my design. This is what happens whenever you can't move forward on project due to current situations. The 4x8 is my go to design. The Yardmaster is the newer one. I added a bypass for rail traffic too. This one will at least handle most of my Missouri Pacific locomotive fleet.

I will have to say, that I have too much time on my hands. These last two designs are cool, though they deviate away from my initial plans. I think I have found another happy medium. This has a larger area for the turntable and it has a six track yard. Three tracks on each side. Only one large refueling and sanding track off the turntable area. Although I am going to have to be creative with the divider. Plus I will have a bridge! I will need to rethink my baseboard and supports. Due to limited tools. Here is my current design. Just trying to figure how to place the turntable? Also this will cost a whole lot less than the other two by over $200-300 dollars for the track only. Depending on how I place the turntable.
