Good morning from cloudy and cool Northeast Ohio! Got a couple of cars done this week. 40' IMRC 40' PS1 Boxcar kit, painted with Scalecoat II Black and Boxcar Red paint and lettered with Mask Island Decals. This is one of a group of cars the LS&BC actually owned and not involved in the PC car stealing, but the LS&BC actually did not steal the cars, it is a long involved story with many participants. 52'6" Proto 2000 Greenville gon kit, painted with Scalecoat II Black and lettered with Herald King Decals. The DT&I owned a hundred of these cars, transferred them to the AnnArbor and then took them back, mostly used in transporting coiled steel, accounting for the covers I have in the car. This week I brought back another view of a New Haven passenger train powered by Rapido FL9's, some head end traffic, the Osgood Bradley Coaches and some fluted side chair cars. Thanks for looking! A freight train with Santa Fe catwhiskers in charge, at twilight through Johnstown on my HO scale DC layout. John
I scratch built this stock yard using Q-tips dowel rods and strip styrene, about 22 feet of strips. Still need to build two loading ramps and a fence between the yard and the processing building which was assembled using DPM wall sections. There is another set of quarter inch Birch plywood bases that will be interchangeable with the items listed above to use as an oil depot to add variety during operation 5. The bases go on module 06 on the Boston Mountains Sub Division layout. Sorry that the photos are upside down, got a new phone today and trying to learn how to use it. Joe
This is a kit bash from a March 2011 article by Dana Kawala, from Model Railroader. They call it a fertilizer plant. I followed his directions, which can also be found in a MRR book, three layouts...
Went down to the old Water Tower for some railfanning to a couple of Penn Central RS-11 locomotives. The Penn Central train was stopped and we were surprised by a Lehigh & Hudson River train coming up on us from behind. After the L&HR train passed we got what we came for.
A while back, July 13, and the NPBH 11 was spotted in use on the CM&B hauling a MIRR specialty boxcar!
