I have some Life-Like locos that I want to strip and paint. Is there a safe way to remove the glued in windows?
I use 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to strip the paint. Would that harm the windows if I can't get them out?

I used a hobby knife when I repainted my SW1

IPA can cloud some clear plastics. I would use something mechanical (as @bremner suggested).

Almost anything that I have used to strip ruins the windows. The glue that LL used on the FAs, PAs, Es, SWs, SDs, FMs was not much and not strong, so, often you could pop the glass with your fingers. If not, all that you needed to do was put a dull eXacto under a part, pry gently and it would come up and out.

This, of course, does not work for B-mann's, as they use some sort of Super Duper Gorilla Glue for their glazing.

It has been a while but since I removed the windows from several LifeLike SW9's that I stripped with 91% alcohol. I don't think the clear plastic 'glass' in the cab I removed was glued in. I learned that if you remove the side windows (they are connected by a piece that follows the roof curvature) the front and rear windows pop out.

Thanks for the help everyone. I got them out with some prying, poking and a little brute force and ignorance.

91% IPA will make MicroTrains Line jewel boxs cloudy if left on long enough.

Ouch. I like the Wild Turkey 101 myself! It won't cloud plastic, but has been known to cloud judgement.
