Has anyone setup a DCC Bachmann Turntable using JMRI? Tried running it yesterday, and it seem not be doing anything. Not sure if I have the layout for the turntable right. Each of the Ray says it's not connected. I have the main track connected to the 4th track.
I figured out the rays showing not connected. That's just because I did not have any track connected to it. Once I connected the track, it shows they are connected. Still no movement though. Wondering JMRI know which is the DCC address. It supposed to be 3.
I did see that. Don't that is the issue I have. Here is an update since last night. My head has been spinning and found a short term solution to this. I made JMRI search for "new loco". It found it, as Address 3, and as a Bachmann encoder. I then saved it as a loco in the Roster as TUR1. I can now control the turntable using the throttle panel. Still looking for a long term solution why the actual turntable in the layout is not working. Very sure it's a setup issue where it does not know what the address is. I know the other parts of the layout work such as the 2 turnouts I have. I can click on the turnout on the layout and it will throw as normal. I did find this while going to bed at 230am. https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/19702 He mentions that the address should start at 255. Will need to try that later today.
It won't work as a turntable in JMRI using their system expecting an accessory decoder. It was designed with a locomotive decoder. So the method you found is exactly the way it is supposed to work. You set it up as a loco and use the throttle. Sorry about that.
Thanks for getting back to me. I did try changing the address to the accessory address as you posted on the other thread. I was able to see the commands on the telemetry it said accessory address of what I command, but after the a dividing number of 4 I think and a remainder after the division. Eitherway, I have it working as a loco as you mentioned. Thanks.
