Good morning from cloudy, mild and rainy Northeast Ohio!

Got a couple of cars done this week!

Another of my PC Projects, an ex-PRR X43C 1944 AAR Boxcar, done using a Red Caboose Kit, Painted with Floquil PC Green Paint and lettered with Mask Island Decals. Car was in general service with return to Collinwood Yards in Cleveland to service the many manufacturing plants in the Cleveland area.

Proto 2000 52'6" Greenville Gon kit, painted with Scalecoat II Black and lettered with Champ Decals. The NYC purchased thousands of these cars in the late 40's and early 50's to replace smaller gons that were built pre-WWII. They were in general service hauling various items of completed items like pipe and steel beams along with scrap loads going back to the steel mills.

    Thanks for looking!

G scale beginnings. My Bachmann 4-4-0 on it’s maiden voyage. Still need to level the right-of-way and add the permanent roadbed. Quite different from HO and N! EF15E492-D816-4FED-B555-91408729FAA5.jpeg

Another one of my passenger trains that I am still working on.

    Illinois Central’s Train # 3/4, The Louisiane.

    The Louisiane
was often steam powered, but sometimes diesel powered. I don’t have a suitable steam engine for this train. That could change at some point in the future.

I have consists for this train from May, October, and November 1946 at Memphis that I found on Condren Rails.

My representation will be powered by E6A IC 4003 & E7B IC 4100. When diesel powered, The Louisiane was often powered by a single E unit, but, well, you know.

    IC 4003 = Life-Like # 7353 shell on a Kato # 176-273 chassis.
    IC 4100 = Life-Like # 7035 shell on a Kato # 176-290 chassis.

The Head End Cars are a mix of cars. The Micro-Trains cars are from the Illinois Central Heavyweight 5-Pack.

    IC 794 = Micro-Trains # 147 52 350 70’ Heavyweight Baggage Car.
    IC 103 = Micro-Trains # 140 51 350 Heavyweight RPO.
IC 180x= Walthers # 932-55106 PS 72’ Baggage Car. Decals are included in the box for 1804-1808.
    IC 673 = Wheels of Time # 398 Arched Roof 60-ft Baggage-Express Car.

The coaches are also a mix of cars. These are the ones that I currently have. The Micro-Trains coaches are also from the Illinois Central Heavyweight 5-Pack.

    IC 2813 & IC 2819 both = Micro-Trains # 145 53 350 78’ Heavyweight Paired- Window Coach.
IC 265x both = Walthers # 932-55074 PS 64 Seat Coach. Decals are included in the boxes for IC 2650-2659.

The Diner and the Business car are next. The Business Car is from the Micro-Trains Illinois Central 5-Pack.

IC 3990 = Rivarossi Heavyweight Diner painted and decaled for Illinois Central. It’s “almost close.”
    IC 9 = Micro-Trains # 144 55 350 3-2 Heavyweight Observation Car.

In a couple of the consist lists that I have there was a Business Car, IC 5, that was apparently used by Mr. Lynch, tacked onto this train. Mr. Steve F. Lynch was General Superintendent of Transportation for the IC at that time.

I don’t yet have appropriate sleepers or a lounge-parlor car for this train.

The sleepers that appear most often are Centmoor, Terminal Tower, Chief Sitting Bull, Chief Pine Shooter, and Chief Goliah.

Two Rock Island sleepers appear quite often also, Lake Diaz and Glen Onoka. I do have a couple of Walthers Rock Island sleepers that I could probably use for those.

I have to do some more research and see if the Micro-Trains sleepers and parlor car that I have would be appropriate or “almost close” enough if they were decaled and painted.

In a couple of the consist lists there were 3-4 Pullman Troop Sleepers tacked onto the rear of this train. That might give me an excuse to run the ones that I have.

I have been finding it difficult to find N Scale Illinois Central passenger decals. I would appreciate it if anyone could point me at some.

After seeing Sven's pictures, I'm not sure I want to follow that fantastic post. But here goes.

Nice stuff again this week. Although the equipment in Russell's photo was very nice, I also realized how effective the backdrop is in his photos. It creates a great feeling of wide open space that could be Texas or even somewhere in the Midwest. Rick has a couple of nice freight cars (again) and a nice view of the Strongsville club. I really like that NYC gondola with the pipe load. Then there's Wolf's nicely framed shot of his SP consolidation and JimJ's new garden railroad. That brings us to Tad's absolutely stunning Illinois Central passenger equipment and Sven's superb shop photos (the one looking into the shop is especially excellent). Then there's secret weapon with a nice array of EL power and GP30 with a nice Southern shot. Industrial canyons are very cool and Paul Liddiard's shot has a lot character. Round that out with BadlandNP's Mikado and you've got a thread that's just excellent from start to finish.
