I need to paint some black plastic truck frames silver but the plastic has a shiny surface that makes paint chip off and hard to stick to. it's difficult to get some scuffing with sandpaper. Is there a solvent that's safe for plastic that will help the paint stick better? Appreciate the help.

Delrin is notoriously hard to paint, but for anyone that wants to paint or weather trucks, it has to be overcome. In some of the weathering articles in Model Railroader and others, they use an adhesion promoter. You may want to do more research into what brand or product to use, or you could spray a coat of dullcoat first. That would give you some tooth to paint on. Is this with a brush or an airbrush?

I usually hose the Delrin truck frames down with my Badger Git Blaster using baking soda as the medium. This is a cheap medium that can easily be washed away with water. The result is a dull surface with plenty of tooth to give most paints something to adhere to.
