Thanks! I like them to remind me of better weather when I am out working in 90 plus degrees in the summers!

Some days we all need that moment!

Friday evening late and Sat morning early, there was some switching going on on the east end of the yard.

And the Sat a.m. move. It took a bit to get the joint made, at least twice they had to back down onto the standing cars to drop the pin, though I only videoed til the first pull away.

So yesterday was a day of work, but I had a great opportunity to get what ended up being 3 eastbounds in an hour! So lunch was peanut M&M's and water while I watched these three trains! Fun!

Train one was a coal drag, the cars were being pushed hard so there is a lot of swaying action,

Then two was an oil can,

Followed by a neat M train. Lots of empty propane cans.

All in all a good week!

    ;)

Yesterday afternoon a friend and I went hunting trains, we caught a ten unit consist doing some switching on the west end of the yard,

Then after we headed to the sunny side of it, we saw the local heading out. So, raced over to the west end of the black bridge to try to catch them, and succeeded!

So of course it was time to chase it over to the tank farm and watch the tanks get dropped for loading!

Thanks guys! The lighting was great at noon! The tracks go downhill after they pull around the curve and apex of the hump leaving town. They then pour the coals to it to get a run on the climb to Beaver Hill summit. Those boxcars did look fresh! I liked that!

Woke up today to fresh snow, Happy Easter! Dis get out and capture a coal empty westbound out of town. Had to do some scampering around in the slick mud and rocks to get to the location. Fun!

    Then, a bit later, I fetched this westbound freight doing a long switch;

I was late to the party and missed the head end, but got the second half of the first half and then the whole of the second half! Dpu's are really the head end power for the second train. wierd, but fun for us. Not so much for the crews that just watched a job go away....

And Saturday afternoon, this head end power was pulling a LONG pull out of the east end of the yard to cut out a few towards the west end of the train. It was a sight to see! Of course I didn't mind sitting at the crossing for a while . . .

Wow, very long cut of cars!
Weird to see you all have snow back there, when it was sunny and 65 degrees here in Western Washington!

It's Montana, where we have two seasons: Winter and July. Even then, you may see snow in July, and I don't mean just in the mountains. That is why we always travel with an emergency weather supply box in the car.

We were in Yellowstone NP in Sept, 2018. It snowed 4" and scared alot of the tourists away, so we had pretty much the park to ourselves, nobody on the roads or at Old Faithful!

Next day it was 70 degrees and sunny!
