Last week, I posted an image of 8 of my SP/SSW locos with comments about decoders installed. Here is a 5 min. YT video displaying the sound and lighting effects in only two of them. I have to kill the cab light and am not sure the gyra should be above windshield. Any comments or suggestions welcome.

don't know who you did the install but if not to hard I would try to either add a light tube or black paint or a styrene shield or something to shield the lights (the gyra specifically) from bleeding all that light through the cab. Just makes it a bit unnatural. I can't comment on if that's how it was in prototype or not but just a suggestion.

    Keith,

Thanks for the comment. I do all of my own installs, so am familiar with the needed correction. I glued 0402 LEDs to the end of the light pipes. I can put a thin piece of black foam in the cab to kill the cab light. I too think it looks "toyish". A very very dim light might be OK? ? ? BTW, in this case the gyra light belongs between the number boards.

Yup Mars light between the numberboards, red guts light above nose headlight, and nose headlight turned from vertical to horizontal.

    Great sound job

And needs a shield for the light bleed into the cab.

Carl, what type of glue did you use on the 402s? I sealed mine in situ with canopy glue then painted over them on the F3 lightboards. For the hea and mars lights I just used common aluminum foil as light blockers. Way easier than foam to trim and fit.

    Richard,

I too used 560 canopy glue. Still need to "fix" the light bleed.

A little corner of aluminum foil works fantastic, can be cut to shape easily if needed. Great job so far.
Maybe one day the club will have a “lights out” or lights dimmed session so everyone can appreciate the lighting effects!
