I thought I had seen something recently that CMW was going to do a garbage truck. Did a quick search for the CMW website to see if they are still planned but can't seem to locate a website for CMW. Am I missing it somehow?

You probably saw them where I did. Page 13 of N Scale Magazine March/April 2020 edition.

Was it going to have front forks for dumpster service? Sorely needed in N scale (well, at least on my layout anyway!).

In addition to N-Scale Magazine, a number of online hobby shops that accept pre-orders have been showing the artwork for the truck since mid-December. You can also finds links to the artwork in this thread in the N Scale Vehicle Association's Groups.io discussion group. https://groups.io/g/NScaleVehicleAssociation/topic/mid_1970s_buick_estate_wagon/68822137?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate/sticky,,,20,2,0,68822137

The artwork does not show any front forks. However, the garbage bed is on a 1954 Ford, and I am not sure if many garbage trucks had front forks in the 1950s. I don't remember seeing them in rural areas back then, but maybe they were in urban areas where dumpsters were more common?

I agree dumpster emptying trucks would be good but I am thinking that the beds on these new CMW garbage trucks could be paired with more modern cabs to create later era garbage trucks.

Also, as in the OP, does CMW not have their own website?

    Website - they're now part of Round2:

Also just announced are new fire truck and septic service tank trucks on the 1954 Ford Platform. While still a little old for my needs, they'll be pretty cool. Best source of info for them is their Facebook page.

There were quite a few conventional garbage trucks that were equipped for rear of the truck dumpster handling operations. Saw lots of them in the 70s and 80s.

Thank you and that pretty much explains why I didn't see it.

I've seen those kits and they are nice. Just thinking the Mini Metal garbage trucks may be be a little less expensive to experiment with.

The GHQ is a more modern truck than the Mini Metal. Different eras are covered. Could use both and weather the Mini Metals heavier, or as one being ready to leave.
