Apologies if this has been recently discussed but I have not been able to search. Site always says search failed. Not sure the issue. I just picked up a 2nd gen Concor Rivarossi Big Boy #4013. It runs, not well, but the tender was left attached to the engine during shipping and it snapped. Ugh. I would like to open up the tender so that I may remove the drawbar to fabricate a new one. But I am at a loss. The bolster pins do not want to move, so I'm not going to apply more force and really mess up the tender. Is there a trick to opening this tender up?? I assume so, but I don't know where to start. Thanks!
The tender is just a tube with the ends of the tender that are glued in place. Gently insert a sharp craft knife in the almost invisible gap and very, very gently ease apart. Not easy to do.
