Digitrax announced a new Zephyr today. The DCS52. The best new feature...built-in USB port. http://www.digitrax.com/products/starter-sets/dcs52/ [video=youtube_share;f92G9urqfWw]
Unfortunately there is something that seems amiss with my Digitrax DCS52 Perhaps...Someone could test their DCS52 and give me feedback? I can tell you Digitrax told me to send back the unit for repairs.... ISSUE: LOW POWER VOLTAGE IN DC MODE . Barely enough to run any of my older DC locomotives. Not even on a simple test 3' Track. Here are the readings and notice the comparison with my Old Controller EZ-COMMAND DCC/DC center which has no issues with voltage on any layout: TESTS Digitrax Support had Me Performing DCS52 Rail A and Rail B = 6.81V - 6.84V(Weak - Not enough to run DCC/DC) EZ COMMAND DCC (Existing) = 11.26V (Runs Both DCC and DC Flawlessly) Reply from Support... SEND IT BACK! QUESTION to the Forum: Has anyone else noticed extremely poor voltage in DC mode Rail A and B loco settings 0000 set to full throttle? Is this a BUG? Attached are pictures of my trouble shooting sessions with Digitrax... I am curious if anyone else has noticed this? Or can share their voltage readings in DC Mode 0000. The zephyr doesn’t not put out a DC voltage, even with address 0 selected. It is still a pulse width modulated “AC” signal. What do you get of you measure AC voltage? Also, what is the input voltage from the power supply, it may be low. Do DCC locos run ok?
