Here she sits on the workbench early this morning, detail painting going on, PIC_0910.JPG AND, here is a test run as proof that steam still rules! Still needs final tweaks and such, but it's almost ready for revenue service!

I have a Bachmann EM-1 on my C&O layout, just to compare to the brass Alleghenies. It will take 55 hoppers plus caboose up my 1,67% helix, just like the real thing on Cranberry Grade!

Clinchfield version Challenger. Re-lettered for SP&S and added pumps on the front.

And here it is running quite a bit better! Still have a few more bugs to work out, primarily pulling traction. She is a slipery thing! Found my two biggest issues were the man way twixt loco and tender was binding on the 18 inch radius curves! That would tip the loco sideways enough it would lose comtact on one side. Then, the small holes for the wires were too small, had to make them bigger. Now it runs and rolls well, but is still slick!

And here she pulls 11 cars through my tightest S curves and only needed "sand" once. It went up this 40+ foot, 2+% incline with no troubles. Now, with new Snot applied, we will see if it gets better tomorrow.

The Russians are coming. I got carried away trying to correct the steam pipe problem on the old TRIX decapod. The cylinder exhaust pipes did not line up with the pipes coming out of the smoke box. Anyway, wound up with a Frisco dec.

Not practical on the prototype - they pulled a coupler out with so much power on the front of that train - it was just too heavy for the equipment behind the locos. Need some power in back, less up front.

Probably not practical on our model layouts either. With out tight curves, and short straightaways, the total number of cars 3 Bachmann N scale EM1s could pull on a straight path would surely stringline derail on our curves.
