Looks similar in construction to the one posted last week with the elevated roof on one side. You sure have a collection, Roger.
TThe order boards in stop position is a safety move . TT TO in 1905 . As time for a train came a check with the disp. and order board would be cleared if no orders . Notice the ever present out house to the right of the depot .I don't remember the water tower on the left ,which is north ,but thetrack curves to the right passing to the right of the tower . Anywhere from 15 min. to an hour and a half work here most days . LEW
I may have told this before ,but we had a conductor that chased Dean all over Fairmount when he was growing up because he was throwing rocks at the caboose. From the location that the photo was taken is a street crossing . It was a Sunday morning and we were northbound on a Claypool turn with 60 cars of coal. As we approached the crossing ,flasher protected , an automobile approached and stalled on the crossing . An old man jumped out with cane and tried to push the auto from the crossing without success . We hit the auto wrapped it around the flasher post and did not hurt the old man because he was along the side the auto and it took it out of his hands . This turned out to be Dean's grandpa . I guess you could say that Jim's family was a pain to the railroad . LEW
