More than likely it was SA&AP. From an 1893 map of the line. It is the second station south of Kerrville.
In the early 1980s Jersey Transit adopted a new jazzed-up paint on its locomotives, derided by some as the "Disco Scheme" recognizing a popular music trend at the time. Here are two examples, the 4113 at Dover, NJ (09/1982) and the 4159 at Suffern, NY (10/1983).
Along the former CNJ mainline in rural Hunterdon County is Whitehouse, NJ. In 1980 I found WH Tower still standing and was able to clamber upstairs and find the interlocking levers somewhat intact. I don't know if any of this remains today. NJ Transit provides passenger service here on what it calls its "Raritan Valley Line".
Fun Fact - Until 1913, the plucky little Rockaway Valley Railroad connected with the CNJ at Whitehouse, NJ. The 25 mile long railroad primarily earned its keep as a peach hauler until a blight brought an end to operations.
"Frosty Bakken Bomb" A dense ice fog envelops much of North Dakota, and frosts everything in sight, including this eastbound CP loaded oil can crossing the frozen Souris River in Minot.
What's really cool about this shot is the progress in the noses-look from bottom to top how the nose is constructed, very interesting!
I was not aware of the TA locomotive. Though I may have been pulled by one on the RI/SP Golden State between Chicago and Tucumcari, NM in November 1945. I built a Strombecker wooden model of the "Rock Island Rocket". Was that also a model of the TA?
It may have been. If the model was just called the Rock Island Rocket it may have been a generic representation of all the Rockets. The little pocket streamliners were as follows. The Peoria Rocket from Chicago, Illinois to Peoria, Illinois, The Des Moines Rocket from Chicago, Illinois to Des Moines, Iowa, The Texas Rocket from Fort Worth, Texas to Houston, Texas, offering an alternate schedule on the route of the Sam Houston Zephyr, The Denver Rocket from Kansas City, Missouri to Denver, Colorado for less than a year, then became The Rocket from Kansas City to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from March, 1938 on and last but not least, The Kansas City Rocket, Minneapolis, Minnesota to Kansas City, Missouri (2 trainsets).
