Never had static grass or trees beyond the plastic needles and lichen bushes. I was wondering about maintenance and repair, especially with grandkids But even adults drop things, brush their hand where it shouldn't go, and things get covered with dust. What do you do about that? Just vacuum carefully?
Clean it with canned air. I have about 800 SuperTrees and plenty of static grass on the layout. I have broken two trees (stupid moves by me moving lumber). I fixed them with a little CA glue. The larger the forest, the more durable they are. All my trees also get two soakings in Matte Medium. That helps the durability.
Thanks for the tips. What are the supertree armatures made of? Plastic? Wire? I saw some online and they look so whispy, like the top portion of these weeds in my backyard that trow to about 3 feet tall. I am going to experiment with roots and weeds just for fun. I saw one of Luke Towan's videos where he took a branch and got rid of 90 percent of it and snipped it. Then he took tuftier pieces from the cut parts and glued them back onto the stubs with CA and baking soda. Buying is easier, but for a few showpiece trees, like in a yard, I thought of making them to see how they turn out.
SuperTrees are made from a Scandinavian sage brush. They start out pretty big, I get multiple trees from a single piece. I am averaging 120-150 N Scale trees per 1/4 bushel box.
