A bunch of odds and ends. Road material, a last section of track, road signs, parking lot detail, propane tanks and a low boy trailer kit that I am looking forward to working on.

My wife bought me: 'MicroTrains' N-Scale NP Pullman Heavyweight Observation car and a diner. I will 'name' the cars after her two daughters. One is a gourmet cook and the other always wants the best view.
Beyond that? a whole bunch of track.

Now wondering what kind of loads these cars hauled?
I know the Rio Grande had 5 specifically used for sugar hauling.
Were they specific for food - sugar, flour etc....?
    Thanks.

Yes those airslides are food grade cars for the most part.

But later in life they could be seen hauling very fine powdered or granulated goods or as sand filled buffer cars for the tank trains.

Just received a Micro Trains heavyweight bagge car, in Rio Grande green.
No idea they decided to do them! Nice looking car, so far! Not out of box yet!

Well no joy and it looks like there is no solution. Exaggerated rents and prices, looks like I will have to go via Tuff Shed type solution in the side yard.

Working on structure projects again and used the last of several sets of detail parts, so I got repeats of some things I enjoyed a bunch in the past. Mostly three sets of Gold Medal Models photo-etched parts. These are NOT pictures of what I just got in the mail, but old projects that used the same parts.
Ornate fire escapes. I used these for an approximation of an 1870-something building on Galveston's Strand, kitbashed from a a European cinema kit. The real building was a furniture store warehouse in 1950s period I model, was reportedly used as a location for filming Kenny Rogers "The Gambler" and now is a boutique in the historical preservation district.

Venetian blinds. I turned these SIDEWAYS and used them as jail bars, on a building sold in 1970 as Arnold Rapido European tenement house. I painted jail in same colors that I used on the Pola mansion/custom house kit which was cast as the courthouse. Two building built of same bricks but courthouse more elaborate and fancy.

And finally, shopping carts. These get more comments from non-modelers than anything. I lost most of these through the years, and as long as I am ordering Gold Medal Models stuff, figured would get some more. Only one cart left now. I did this "superette" over 20 years ago on a former layout, with the shopping carts. Never got a closeup picture of it there. Recently found a place for it on new layout and shot a picture that really shows. It is really a Bachmann drive-in bank kit.

Finally found an Atlas 2 truck Shay. Been looking for years. Just couldn't get myself to pull the trigger on the few that I found due to cost. Got it and an Athearn Mogul for $120.
