Day 25, Cynthia is doing great, her oxygen is set at 30%. She wants to go home real bad and it's hard to tell her that she can't. When she gets out of ICU she will be transferred to a regular room to learn how to eat again. Joe
Another great report Joe! Tell Cynthia we are all rooting for her but not to rush things just to get home. Better to make sure all is good first.
Day 26, Cynthia had the ventilator removed from the tracheotomy incision and has an oxygen mask over the incision. She is really mad because we won't let her go home. Still too early for that, she has to learn how to eat again first. They were giving her some applesauce when I left to go home to feed the dogs. Joe
Yuppers...know how it feels to spend weeks in the hospital and chompin at the bit to get the heck outta there. She will be fine.
I'm a Biker , and the last time I was inside a hospital, it was winter. My only consolation was , at least i'm not wasting the riding months in here! Tell her that you'll take her for a meal out somewhere beautiful this spring. Not long now... Prayers and best regards HH
Day 27, Cynthia had to have the ventilator reinstalled to the tracheotomy incision and her oxygen is set at 40%. She is awake and alert now tough she did sleep a lot today, they said they would try to wean her off the ventilator again tomorrow. They stopped giving her pain meds which is great because I was getting concerned about withdrawals. Fentanyl is one nasty stuff but there has never been any signs of withdrawals. Joe
Joe- Have they told you if she has gone Septic? 27 days in the ICU with oxygen levels they are seeing? Hope and Prayers to you and Cynthia.
Day 28, Cynthia is awake and alert with the ventilator connected to the tracheotomy incision and the oxygen is set at 20%. She is breathing on her own with a little help from the ventilator, normal room air is 26%. They are going try to put on a tracheotomy collar let her sit in a chair for a bit tonight. She will be thrilled to get out of bed. Joe
Joe, I bet she will be happy to be able to sit in a chair after all that time in bed. Thinking of you both and praying that it goes well and that she continues to recover.
Day 29, Cynthia has been in and out of sleep all day, the ventilator is connected to the tracheotomy incision and the oxygen is set at 40%. They are going to try again tomorrow to let her sit in the chair for a few minutes. I know she will enjoy it greatly. Joe
Day 30, Cynthia is doing fantastic and she just moved to a room in the pulmonary wing of the hospital. They have a tracheotomy collar on and the oxygen is set at 40% but it's just assisting just a little bit, for the most part she is breathing on her own. This is one giant step towards going home, can't describe the joy we are having. Joe
Thank you guys for all of the responses, the prayers are working!!! Your support is greatly appreciated. Joe
