    I wouldn't bet on that.
I've been putting Sound Decoders into my Z scale Loco's for a few years now. Here is a one of my latest installs.

They sound way better in person. When i Hit the Horn in a crowded show hall people walking by 30 - 40 even 50 feet away, Stop and look around to see where the sound is coming from.

Here is a video someone took last October of my Atlantic Coast Line E8 in action at the Great Scale Model Train Show.

Now that I've proven good quality sound from a powered Z scale locomotive is possible. Its only a matter of time before one of the manufactures picks up on it and releases a factory sound equipped model

That sounds amazing David! Do you have any how to, or photos of the inside, or tricks used to fit whatever decoder you fit? If so, please post or bump a thread so I can see how you did it.

    Thanks,
    Robert

I'm in the process of taking notes and pictures so i can do a How-to Write-up. In fact i just got done modifying 3 decodes a few minutes ago.
The whole process is pretty involved. The Decoder, The Chassis, The Shell, and the Speaker enclosure all have to be modified.
