I have told this story before in other places but here it is again. In 1992, when I was building my first NTRAK modules, I was doing a lot of research to put together the story behind 1951 Sugar Land and the Imperial Sugar Company. Being "Transition" era I needed information on what steam locomotives ran on the old International-Great Northern (MoPac) line that serviced the sugar refinery. The HR director at the refinery put me in contact with a retired Mop conductor who had worked the line. We met for coffee and talked. During the interview, I was asking about the steam locomotives he worked on. "Were they 2-8-0s, 2-8-2s or maybe 4-6-0s?" He thought about it a while, and replied, "No, they were more like 241, 243, 245 and 246." I got the information but in a round about way. The MoPac assigned a group of Ten Wheelers, class TN-63, numbers 241 to 246, to the IGN. Now I had to find an N scale 4-6-0. In 1992, there was not much available. I found a Graham Farish mechanism to which I added a modified Atlas Rivarossi boiler shell and an Arnold tender that I added an oil bunker to. I later changed out the trucks to Kato Mikado tender trucks.
Good morning from mostly sunny and cold Northeast Ohio! Managed to get a couple of projects done this week! Tangent G43 Gondola Kit, that was built with the addition of a coil trough for hauling steel coils. Kit was built then painted with Scalecoat II PRR Freight Car Red, then lettered with Dan Kohlbergs IC decals for this car. I am showing both sides of the car as the sublettering is different on each side. Coils were supplied by Tangent for filling the car. Branchline 1944 AAR 40' Boxcar Kit, using the 4/4 Dreadnaught Ends and Diagonal Panel Roof. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and lettered with Mask Island Decals. Original car built in 1948 and this is a 1962 repaint in the then current ATSF Paint Scheme, car was in general service. A pair of Atlas Alco RS-32 Diesels that were detailed with lift rings, blat horns and grabs as the NYC did these units, hauling a mixed freight on the Strongsville Model Railroad Club layout. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
My newest DCCed loco models. After the WP/UP merger these former WP GP40-2's were sent in for overhaul and repainting. They have now returned to their old haunts pulling a westbound UP manifest through the Palisade Canyon near Harney, Nevada. Have a great Christmas everyone.
Few things scream Southern California than palm trees. I picked up 5 JTT palms that are 3.5 inches tall….I really don’t like palms, so to the rear they go.
Trying something new for "Weekend Fun". A short DIY video, my train, club layout. Hope you enjoy! ! ! PS: Merry Christmas. Feliz Navidad y Prospero Ano Nuevo, Carl and the Southern New Mexico N Scalers
