Here's a picture I saw on the Walthers site for Athearn HO product, so I assume it would be applicable to their N scale product (in some form): http://www.walthers.com/prodimage/0140/01400000002752.gif Harold
Anybody remember the old TV show "CHiPs". There were tons of these old C trucks on there. That means alot were still around in the late 70's. Shoot I still see one or two every now and then here in Atlanta.
It has only been about 8 years since Ford stopped producing the model C so they cover a very long time span with the only ovious difference being the Ford emblems.
this model truck came into being in the early sixties---truck stopped being made early eighties---little changed on them over the years--they where populuar for local deliveries but they where not considered road trucks--they ranged from gas to diesel power--rarely seen today--i know, i have had numerous of them over the years---still have one that doesnt run--
1957 is almost certainly correct as that was the year they started using the C cab chassis on fire engines. I can also say with certainty that at least some of these are still in service. I know this because our fire engine here at district 14 is an early 80's vintage Ford C cab and we drive it nearly every day.
The Model C originated in 1957. They are a very common truck . There are probly 300 of them in Grand Rapids alone.Roadway alone has over 50 of them here.By the way I own three of them ,a 57 and a 84 and also an 86. [ 08. September 2002, 11:06: Message edited by: Catt ]
