    They look great.
Will you be making the Chessie System decails avalable on your site? What about the sold out C&O decails will you be restocking them?

    Hi,

See my works in progress SW1200. Eventually it will be the D&RGW 133. The locomotive is alive :)
    Today I finished to install the Doehler & Haass PD05A DCC decoder (5.0 x 7.9 x 2.5 mm).

That's great Frank! Did you still need a resistor for the motor or does the decoder handle that?

Thx,.. You and Rokuhan did the base for success!
No resistor used, just reduced the max speed (cv5=40) and d&h decoder pd05a Handel's it nicely.

How I did install the decoder:

First I made a small circuit board where all wires come together. It also has the resistor for the front LED. This made it easy to install the decoder!

Decoder was temporary soldered to the circuit board for testing.

I had a cradle for the decoder printed, which also holds the front LED. ...Everything fiddled into the chassis...

Inside th efront hood there is some kapton tape to prevent for any shorts when installing the shell to the chassis.

Next step is finisghing the shell paintwork / decaling and adding the rear LED into the top of the cab. ..and adding the truck sides.

    Hi all,

    D&RGW 133 is finished eventually:
This locomotive really is a fantastic design! It runs so smooth with Doehler & Haass PD05A DCC decoder! For switching the Rokuhan shorty motor and trucks are doing great.

Really a cool little SW and I'm N scale now.

You did a killer job of building that unit

    Nice Job Frank!

Does the decoder help smooth out the uphill/downhill speed?

I’m looking forward to the S-2, and then hopefully Baldwin S-12s.

Yes the decoder helps with the smooth running. I am also waiting for the S2 since d&rgw had those too. Even the same propulsion as with sw1200 would be fine for me.

About 3 weeks ago I read Shapeways resumed brass sales, so I jumped on a pair of the SW1200 shells order, and today I received shipping confirmation from Shapeways. Yay! I received the handrails from Rudy about 3 weeks ago, and I have a couple shorty drives on hand so it looks like I will get to join the SW1200 club this fall... Except i'm building mine as SW9's.

That's great news. I hope you enjoy it. Be sure the chassis is straight and square. I had a few delivered that were slightly dented to the point the gears did not mesh properly. The distortion is very subtle but it can make all the difference.

So today my SW1200 parts arrived from Shapeways. They are polished far more than the last time I got brass from them, and the shell slides right over the chassis easily. Total time from Shapeways order to deliver was less than 4 weeks. Happy happy!

I’m excited to see this project documented as you go Robert. The shells do look really good to boot!

I haven't shown my work much lately. I thought I'd share some photos.
