Good morning all from cold and snowy Northeast Ohio! Nothing sticking to the ground but it is still snowing.

Got some cars done this week!

IMWX 1937 AAR Boxcar Kit, with Yarmouth Model sill steps in place of the plastic ones that came with the kit. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red Paint and lettered with Speedwitch Media Decals. Car was built in 1942 for general service.

Next I updated another old AHM Helium Tank Car with metal sill steps, removed cast on grabs and replaced with wire ones and added some where appropriate. Also replaced the cast on roofwalk with a Plano Replacement. Car was painted and built as they were rebuilt in the early sixties removing the wood roofwalk and other upgrades. Substituted the trucks with some I stole from a Roundhouse Ore Car as Athearn no longer has these in stock. They have extensions to hold the added brake shoes as these cars were very heavy and needed the double brake shoes on each wheel. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Silver Paint and lettered with Tichy decals. These cars were the ex US Navy cars that were all transferred to the US Bureau of Mines after the plimp were retired. Most of them supplied helium to various NASA applications.

Latest acquisition, an Athearn SP GP40P-2 pinch hitting on a weekend freight with an SD45 following.

    Thanks for looking!

These were heavy cars empty but would not hold a lot of load in weight.

Sorry for the latecoming but switched from Photobucket to Google Photos and had to re-learn how to embed photos from Google. Anyways, here's Kelly Grove at the end of the narrow gauge line after planting some more trees and bushes....

A new Boxcab set has joined N Scale this weekend! The rare "streamlined" Milwuakee Road boxes E22A and E23A. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to pull this design off but after getting into it I couldn't stop and I think we were pretty successful. Jeff King assembled and painted this set, with DCC, directional lighting (of course) and sound. There are a couple of design changes we were talking over for future builds, but overall I'm real happy with these!

How were these made? Are they a brass model, 3D printed? A very unique model, to be sure.

These are 3D printed in my home workshop. The pantographs were 3D printed, too!

N Scale Ferris wheel ready to add to club layout carnival area....................

Since recording this I have removed the pauses that you see. Don't know what I did but they are fixed. I really enjoyed this build and as usual (I like lights) I added a few 0402 LEDs.

    Thanks for looking,
    Carl

Late getting here this week- I work Friday nights these days and am busy the rest of the week- but this was another good week for modeling photos. (Cant recall ever seeing a bad one) The Milwaukee boxcabs are superb models. Carl's ferris wheel is stunning and Sven has done a great job on the snow scene. It's also good to see that John has worked out his photo posting issues. Tat B&W shot is great.
