While out on my bike ride yesterday morning I noticed this car on the UP Sunset Route. This was the consist pulling the train that it was in.
Caught this BNSF grain train with almost a complete train full of older Thrall hoppers at Metro Jct. Video is on my YouTube link if interested. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
"Tracks to Nowhere" A forlorn switch decays in the weeds near the busy mainline at Soo Tower. The switch once served a long-out of business lumberyard which has been razed and now serves as green space for flood waters.
First photo the gare in Ponte Novu Corsica France on Friday afternoon. Second photo Corsica train AMG 800 in Corte 6am Thursday morning. Third the gare in Corte 5pm Thursday evening .
here is an unofficial website done nicely by one of the crew members. Who goes into detail about his company. https://www.train-corse.com/en
Did a little impromptu rail fanning in Patterson, Ca last Monday. California Northern GP15 #1570 (ex CNW 4424) Does some switching at Trinidad-Benham Corp.
Mo-Pac, are you living in Corsica ? I spent a vacation week over there with my wife 6 weeks ago, and we found this place and its people lovely ! And by the way, I even spot one of these trains you're showing above, shortly missing it at a grade crossing.. Dom
Not easy to find a spot in north America where one can watch switching operations, most of these taking place on private property. You must have had fun ! Dom
Yes Dom! I am living here in Corte Corsica! I have been here on the island since April 2017. Was living in Bonifacio which is to the south. Moved here in March. Yes! The people her in Corsica are great especially in Corte. So! You were here in Corte? Speaking of about the same time frame when you were here my wife and I ran into some people from California. They were cycling around the island. Though my French is improving, I get lost sometimes listening to the locals or my wife speak Corsican. Clayton
So far I've rode the train twice to Bastia. Want to take it the other direction into the higher mountains then into Ajaccio. Its quit fun listening to the twin diesels power up going up the mountains.
Great, Clay ! So I understand you're an american folk married with a corsican lady. Nice mix ! BTW, as we were my wife and myself in the Bonifacio / Porto-Vecchio area and spent some time in Corte, we could even have been able to meet... Maybe next time. Waiting for that, if you have time, have a lunch in the restaurant La Rivière Des Vins in Corte. I discovered this famous sausage made with pork liver that is called Figatellu... Mmmhhh !! And now sorry folks for beeing off topic, we may revert to (model)railroading if you prefer. Dom
I will need to check out this restaurant with my wife, unless its now closed for the season. Ah yea Figatellu!!! MAIM MAIM!!! There's a little pizza shack right off the main drag headed to Restonica. They have a really good pizza with this Figatellu and Copa or Lonzu. Anyway off topic the station here in town. I don't know if you caught a glimpse of the two old water towers next to the station?
I've found that most railroaders are a nice bunch, as long as you don't do anything dumb. I think these guys know I'm a local because I've photographed and shot video of their train before. I've had two different UP crews in Stockton talk to me while they were working. It seems that they're rail fans just like us!
