Welcome back everyone. It’s time once again for us to gather around and discuss what we have planned for the weekend.

Saturday: I’m real excited. My not so local hobby shop is putting on what I believe is their third FreeMo HO fun run and I get to be a part of it. The Cornfield Meet as it’s called, will start with set up tonight. The owner of the shop needed more corners so he and a small group built about eight corner modules and gave them to anyone who wanted them. The stipulation was, it had to be running at the Cornfield Meet. I picked up mine a few weeks ago and have been busy working on my Illinois Terminal inspired module. Last night I put the last bits of scenery on it. It is just a simple prairie landscape but I figured that was better then bare plywood.
Saturday will be our running day with a group dinner at the end of the day.

Sunday: Day two will feature more running and operations. With modules coming in from all over the upper Midwest, we plan to run point to point operations. My B&M HO equipment will certainly be foreign power! The day ends at 3:00 so those from out of state can have plenty of time to head home. I’m real excited about this meet and can’t wait to run trains.

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Let us know. We’ll assemble again on Monday the 14th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe and as always...

Now that I have committed two modules for display at the national train show in St. Louis next year I need to get cracking and get them finished. This weekend will be spent working on structures. I hope to have two finished by Monday. Once I get these structures done I will then start laying track. One module I had to go back to wood gram on. I ripped the foam board off and next is the fascia. I have a piece of plywood giving me fits.

Lots to do and not enough time to do it this weekend.

Last weekend I was at the beach for a long weekend and never whiffed the trainroom or workshop.

    This weekend:
    1. More bridge work
    2. Start wiring Tortoise frogs to the wiring harnesses below the layout. Most of the turnouts I soldered a wire at the bottom of the frog and routed it to below the layout before I installed the turnout.
    3. Time permitting, I may start on my first control panel (sorely needed now). I ordered a bunch of 3mm LED's and resistors, I have all of the mini-switches, the table saw, angle cutter, all that good stuff. I even have a plan drawn up on autocad for the panel diagram. This I will have printed on the same material used to do vehicle wraps and decoration. My nephew owns a company that prints those things, so he agreed to print panel board overlays when I need them. So NOW, the only thing I do NOT have is a good excuse for putting it off.

Hopefully on Sunday, finishing up the uncoupler magnets I started on last weekend. Saturday is out as we are headed to my parents house to begin the process of cleaning and searching the house for all the papers we need now that both are gone. Mom in August and dad last Sunday so some layout time would be good for my soul.
