Have a few joints that need to be reassembled, and a number of washouts that need to be filled and leveled. But, I am able to run trains on the loop in front. Hope to have a couple of short trains set up in a couple of weeks, for railroad club open house. Will have a second throttle available, if someone would like to run a train! Anyone close is welcome to stop by, between 10AM and 4 PM, both Saturday and Sunday, July 20/21.
Got an RS-3 recently! Rio Grande. Said it was in great condition, except he didn’t say that handrail stanchions were broken/missing, missing horn. Radiator louvers on left side messed up! Can redo the louvers. Found a source for 3D printed replacement parts! Ordered what I needed. Recieved today. Discovered that part sent, are NOT the ones I ordered! Ended up with 6 parts for a C-16. Took quick photo, of parts, with my invoice, showing what happened. Hope to hear something in next day or so. Still gotta find an Airwire Radio Control board and sound card for it, so I can use it!
Ran the DRGW GP30’s for about 3 hours today! Warm, dry day! So, I decided to try and take advantage of it! With about a week and a half to go, for layout tour, I gotta get at least 1 section of track reassembled! Have friend willing to help! Heard from RS-3 parts guy. Sending new parts, said to keep what I recieved. Not a bad day overall.
Onlay one I have, at the moment! Newly purchased Burlington GP30’s and coal train. Before I was able to locate an almost impossible to find pair of Rio Grande GP30’s!! Only other one, on this computer! Coal train, now with newly acquired Rio Grande GP30. Several months later, I actually found the other Rio Grande GP30 on eBay!! Minor work needed.
Yeah, those look great. Funny how I like GP30's too when they are supposedly the ugliest diesels EMD ever made. I have many of them in N scale, including some Burlingtons. Doug
Friend from railroad club stopped by today. Offered to help me get a separated insulated track joint back together. Ended up doing a lot more than I expected, or was planning! Felt helpless, since I wasn’t able to do anything! Gave a 3 car set of MT DRGW Cookie Cars, in exchange. Feel like I still owe about another $20 for the work he did for me! Can run a train to back again, and return! Justin time for club open house next weekend!
Just picked up my 14 year old daughter from school Her: It's finally sweater weather! Me: It's 86°... Her: If it's not 100°, it's cold.
Keith, Those Redbirds look great! Ugliest? I think that "honor" belongs to the BL-2. those things had a face only a mother could love. Your daughter better never come to North Dakota.... We haven't broken 80 degrees in weeks. We're expecting a blizzard today, too.
As folks know, I struck, pay dirt last year, at railroad club train show. Well, struck Silver this year!! Fellow I purchased the GM locomotive/caboose from brought in the 2 GM boxcars from the set! Said he was gonna keep to Happy Holidays gondola, and add peppermint candy to it, like I did every year! So currently, I now have the complete GM promo train, save the gon. If I could locate that 1 car, I could complete the set! When it came time to deal, I started with an offer of $100, for BOTH cars. He said NO, too much! After about 5 minutes, we settled on $60 for both boxcars! Photos of cars later. Back hurting, so laying on heat! Also found 5 books. Not a bad day!
Here are yesterday’s promo train silver medals! Wanted me to make offer, as he wasn’t sure what cars were worth! So, I offered, $100 for both cars. He actually said NO. Too high! Offered $50. Said he’d take what I had in my hand at the time, $60. Thought about me first, before he would have considered putting cars up for sale to train show public yesterday! Could NOT turn that deal down! Not after obtaining locomotive and caboose at last years train show! Just gotta see IF I could find the red Seasons Greetings 2001 gondola. Then I’d have the complete set, minus track/power. All of which I already have Again, was a good weekend!
