Maybe get ahold of BNSF FAN. It looks like he found a good way to mount his Unitrack Switches. Just a thought.[IMG]

oh yes i saw this but the switches are up side down. i was thinking maybe double sided sticky tape on a sliding shelf. they have slots in the back to mount them but they make no sense as how there arranged. they way they are there is no way to mount with two screws as it shows. i have not found nothing on the great web about these or pics ect of mounting them. every body use's toggle switches and i just dont like the work involved of that type of setup. i like easy plug it in and it works. one thing ive noticed about kato switches is over time the connections dont stay , so you have to squeeze them together with some thing ie rubber bands ect. witch is what makes me think about double sided sticky tape. Thank You for the photo.

Regardless if mounted vertically, upside down or horizontally on a shelf....the mounting method should be the same. Did you contact BNSF FAN and ask what he used? His switches look great (y)

Hi all, I do know that these are mounted in a different orientation than what you would think. However, on the back of the controller, there is a slotted hole designed to fit over a screw and hang the controller. To use that, you basically have to turn them this way. I basically snapped them together and laid a paper across the back. Then I marked where the screw holes were and used that as a template to install the screws where I needed them. Only used 4 in this case and then it was easy to just slip the controllers onto the screws. Next time I get down to the layout, I'll take some more pics of the set up.

I will add that eventually, I do plan to do a nicer control panel but not sure if I will use a different orientation or keep them together this way yet.

Me....I have never seen one of those Kato switches IRL. Seen lots of pictures of them though...lol. I dont use any electrical switching with my Unitrack. I just use the litlle slide switch on the side of the turnout. Yup...I like manual switching...

I understand what sidney is trying to do...just cant help much. Maybe his idea of using double sided sticky tape on the bottom of each switch would work. But....double sided sticky tape might lose its 'sticky' over time.... hmmmmmmm.

    There is always Velcro....

if ya look at the pic i posted. i want them mounted like that in the pic. But on my new lay out thats not possible. so i was just wondering how other people mounted theres if they use them at all.
BNSF Fan i under stand how you mounted them just the screw holes on the back side of them dont work like there supposed to. there offset weird. like on the back of an plug outlet there made so you can slide them ove 2 screws and that holds them in place but with kato switches you cant do that. IE the reason for using double sided tape to hold them in place SEE PIC kinda explains it

MIKE ... hahaha thats funny and your right double sided sticky tape does in fact lose its grip over time. Velcro might be a great idea .......easy to remove and it works.... love the video hahahahahaha

From the picture alone (did it come with instructions?), it looks like you mount it with only one screw. The switch has to be either in the "up" direction or the "down" direction, to engage one hole of your choice. What I would do it use a square of double sided tape on the end that you are NOT using the screw. So hook it on the screw, pull down and press the other end where the tape is. If you use 3M double sided tape and if your surface is prepared correctly, it will nto lose it's adhesive over time. 3M stuff is good.

I see what you are saying about the offset screw holes. On mine, I just used one screw for the direction I wanted to hang them. I do like how you had them mounted in your first pic. Part of the reason I hung mine the direction I did is because of where the plugs are on the controllers. In your original post, the way they are mounted has the plug coming out the back and it doesn't show. In my set up, the plugs are at the bottom so as not to show too much. Since I am planning to move mine at some point, they are just hanging there which hasn't been an issue. If that was the permanent location, I would probably run a strip of double sided 3M tape behind them along with the screws for extra security.

ya i knda figgered that you just used one screw hole. thinking about it now one screw and some double sided sticky tape should hold them pretty well. Im still looking at building a slide out type shelf so i can mount them flat. I do not want to see the wire connections but do want easy access in case i want to remove or replace wires ect.. The way i had them in my original layout they worked perfectly. the foam kept them tight and the connections were hid. I would have done the same with the new layout but i didn't quite think that part through. hahahaha. also im using just 1 inch of pink foam board now. I could probaly still use the original way i mounted them I quess . hummmmmm got me thinking again ( thats bad sometimes ) hehehe EDIT : no instructions at all with those switches..
