Has anyone tried these decoders.... https://laisdcc.aliexpress.com/store/2977030?spm=a2g0o.detail.1000002.2.65a16ddfKAAnta ... or any of their other products? Sumner
yes, i have tried lais decoders .... not bad at all, was a few years back, but worked good ... here's an image of one without the shrink wrap
I have used a number of them. Did an install of 1 in an N scale Con-Cor E7 for a friend. They work very well. Need to place an order for a few more before long. I usually order 3 or 4 at a time. I model N Scale but have also done a couple HO scales for friends. All the ones I have done were hard wired. None had the 8 pin plug. Their manuals are available on line.
Thanks guys, I ordered 3 of the '2 FUNCTION STAY ALIVE 0.5A MICRO DCC DECODER WITHOUT CONNECTOR'. https://hobbyking.com/en_us/laisdcc...uE873ZiBOUWsX8qYH28aAvSxEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds I won't be adding a stay alive board to go with them though. Looks like they are about the same size as Digitrax's smallest decoders which I can't find at the moment. They are just a bit thicker at 13.3 x 7.3 x 3.8mm -- .524 x .287 x .149. Where are you guys getting them from? I went with hobbyking.com vs. AliExpress as they were a buck cheaper and for $9 they are suppose to come in 9 to 11 days. I couldn't find a source in the States or I probably would of gone that route. These will be hard wired. I did find the manuals .... https://laisdcc.com/manual/ .... and they seem pretty good, especially for me. This is all pretty new to me at this point and I'm just finishing up my first hard wired one now after putting in some drop-ins and doing basic programming to this point only. Sumner
I have been ordering them from AliExpress. Last batch cost me 11.00 each. But that was before the whole trade war deal with China. I think they are 13.20 each now. Usually I get them in 15 to 21 days. Need to watch the .5 amp one in some loco's. Stall current can get over a half amp on some older locos. They will be fine in most anything from probably the early 90's on. Tune them up first make sure they are running good before you do the install.
Right now the only thing holding me back from picking up a handful of these is the fact they don't support RailCom yet. They look like decent decoders otherwise.
