This is a 3D printed mini Motorailer from Walt's Train and Things on Shapeways. I combined 2 Rokuhan Shorties to power it.

Looks great, Thom. Do you have any photos of the inside? This could be the spark I need to revive a dormant PCC project. I don't see couplers. Your set up looks like a possibility. Thanks, Jim

    Thanks, Jim
I can take pics when I get home but I'm at work now. It's one powered shorty with the non-powered truck removed glued end-to-end to a shorty that's had everything except the non-powered truck removed. I ran wires from the non-powered truck to the circuit board on the powered shorty. I also had to trim a little off of the corners of the shorties to fit the curve of the body.

Thanks, Thom. The space between wheel wells on the PCC is much shorter than your motorailer. I wonder if this will effect the truck alignment? We will see. No rush on the photos. Jim

I didn’t know the C&FW Railroad has a rail bus. But I’m only familiar with that railroads Hooterville branch.

They had a large network of track. The Hooterville branch was isolated because of the burned out bridge.

    Jim,
I was originally going to use a piece of plastic or brass bar stock to get the non-powered truck to the right location. Then I noticed that 2 shorties would work and be simpler to do. The bar stock could mount to the mounting hole for the non-powered truck.

Yessir I love it! This is what makes Z scale the best in my humble opinion.

Colors are very similiar to the older Mopac, like on they're passenger trains, is there any affiliation?

It was going to be a MoPac Eaglette until I found out that it's 15' too short. So ..... my story is that AC&F built a few of these short motorailers as demonstrators and had them painted in the prospective railroad's colors. MoPac decided to order one that was longer. This one was bought by the C&FW. They decided to keep the colors and the eagles on the ends.

I had to widen the PCC a bit I have the new one coming soon and know if it will handle the shorty! I didn't think of using two shorty cases. I was going to cut them in half and use a double shaft motor but it won't sit right in the case. would need to make new motor mounts so the gears would rest right on the worm gear!

    Walt,
I think that it is a good idea to make windows. One of the options is to use Humbrol's ClearFix.

I used clear acetate for the windows on the long sides and Microscale Micro Kristal Klear for the small windows on the ends

I did this one to but it was done before the shorty came out so it another one that would need to be resized to fit unless a Chassis is made!
