Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a good and productive weekend. the weather here was cooler and a welcome change to the hot, sticky summer weather. Too bad that hot sticky weather came back today. Oh well, on to our weekend.

Saturday: Inspiration for me always comes within five minutes of being re-directed by someone or something. This was the case Saturday. While looking at the B&M layout, I realized my track plan was wrong. The passing siding I installed had the second set of turnouts set in the wrong direction, I had two left hand turnouts. So rather than the train, easing into the siding, the current set up meant the train had to stop, back up then go forward to perform a run around. I then remembered I had to use mainly left hand turnouts as Atlas was out of code 55 turnouts at the time. A quick dig in my track box to look for a suitable Micro Engineering turnout, led to the discovery of four Atlas right hand turnouts. I was ecstatic and could not for the life of me remember buying these turnouts. As I was getting ready to fix my track laying sins, I was called away to grocery shopping and an afternoon of tractor maintenance and lawn work in anticipation of having friends over. That was the extent of my model railroading on Saturday.

Sunday: With all my domestic duties fulfilled, I requested a day to work on my items which included the B&M layout. My resistance however came in the form of my lack of energy. I did manage however to carefully remove the two offending left hand turnouts without damage, along with the other track. I spent the rest of the night, sanding and preparing the roadbed for the new right hand turnouts and track. It's a pain but it will be worth it in the end.

So how about you? What did you accomplish this past weekend? Let us know. We'll be returning on Friday, August, 30th for a special Extended Weekend Modeling Plans because of Labor or Labour Day weekend. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and as always...

I had a fairly productive MRRing weekend.

My first F unit project is just about done.
DEF-1 F3 - ABBA has been back dated with correct road number. I am just about done with the upper signale light on the A units. (Photos to follow)

I also started a mini project (For photography)
I cut to length a piece of 1" X 4" pine (To 24" long) to display models for photography. Cork and track have been laid. Next: paint the track - then dirt and ballast and a back drop---- then... done.

Hope Y'all had a great weekend,
    Wolf

I was able to hit an LHS Friday And found a few items for the modules. I mainly went for paint. Bought some then Saturday night realized I may still have to pull out my most hated tool. The airbrush! I thought a rattle can would work. It might but the masking would be unbelievable I think. I have another tower to build and it will take two colors of paint when. Finished. Three if I do an interior view of the tower. I also ordered some WWII vehicles as well.

I was able to paint a few figures up. I didn’t do all of them because I only need a few.

Sunday I didn’t get anything done due to Disney’s D23 convention going on. We had to watch a panel to see what was going on.

Monday I started gluing foam board down and ran out of glue. I thought I had another tube of glue but for the life of me I can’t find it. Time to hit the hardware store.

I also hope to have some plane parts painted so as to be ready for assembly this coming Friday.

Spent the weekend doing miscellaneous stuff.
    • Built the deck to fuel oil office that will grace one of my sidings. Also got railings and curved steps put on 2 of the 4 tanks that industry will have.
    • Spent a crazy amount of time applying 3 tab roof shingles on the C&O brick signal tower I have in progress. Those dang shingles can take some time.
    • On the layout, I put down about 30ft of cork roadbed that will lead upgrade to the coal mine. The coal branch lead is primarily in a long tunnel, so I am converting to code 100 inside the long tunnel.
Essentially spent the weekend trying to advance multiple projects. Last week we had cleaners come through the house, so I straightened up my work shop and had them clean the counters, floor, etc. Last night when I finished my weekend, I had it totally trashed again.

Traded an email with someone who'd created a neat little HOn30 critter. But that was it...

We had a long weekend here in blighty so you'd think have more modelling time... not so but spent Saturday getting our exhibition layout ready for Soar valley this coming weekend.

Once all that was done in between the heat wave and sorting garage etc I installed some barbed wire a top the perimeter fence of our FreeMo module

    2019-08-27 12.46.16-2.jpg

that's just to the right of the gate, there is about 4 ft of fencing to the left... and gates, and all two runs...

needless to say I needed to lie down in a darkened room afterwards...

Well, so far, I have survived our current heat, 106* yesterday and 102* for today. Besides that, I posted my weekend plans for my current scratch build project. So here are the results:

    1. Added 8 aluminum light poles with LEDs.
    2. Added an office.
    3. Added two sound modules. Set up a "tool room" to cover them.
    4. Cot holes in the foamcore board for speakers, added mesh on top and a couple of bins for hay.

    Overall view

Same angle showing old boxcar covering the sound modules

I will post more as I go as I am going to add an old rusty rail tankcar on stilts as water supply.

Thanks for looking, any suggestions appreciated,
    Carl
