Worker Train Arriving at Union Station in Terre Haute, 1942
Workers are shown getting off the train, walking toward the parking lot or train station. They are all men, most of whom are wearing work clothes and carrying lunch pails. The train depot is in the background. Freight carts are parked near the tracks.

Great photo Roger! Wanting to learn more about the station, I learned that Terre Haute had both a Union Station and a Big Four Station. Sadly, both are gone. Union Station fell in 1960 and the Big Four station in the early 1980s. Somewhere I have a 35mm slide I took of the Big Four's station during its demolition.

Union Station handled trains of the C&EI, MILW and the PRR. Looks like the photo captured a C&EI train. The MILW left Union Station sometime in the '30s and moved to their own depot elsewhere in town. MILW Terre Haute passenger service ended in 1950.

Again, thanks for posting this. (y)

So many like images at other towns back in the day. Thanks, Roger.

Found this slide I took in July 1984 of the Big Four station in Terre Haute. It's obscured by the train, but demolition is underway on the other side of the station.
