Hope you help me here guys. I bought a couple of GP9s from a fine chap on here, I wasn't super happy with the lighting so I swapped out the yellow LED for a white one, much brighter. Obviously this lights up the area where the number boards should be.
Is it possible to buy 'off the shelf' number boards for these locos and if so, can anyone point me in the right direction of a reputable supplier who will ship them to the UK without me having to sell a kidney to pay for the shipping!
    Thanks in advance guys

Print your own. I printed all the numbers I needed on a standard page of paper. I think I used three point type or maybe four point. Not sure now as it has been a while. That will give you a black number on a white background. If you need the opposite, white on black, just take it to a print shop or copy center and ask them to reverse the color. (They can even reduce or enlarge the size) Cost for me was 16 cents ($0.16) for one page. Just be sure to make a lot more numbers than you need as applying them is an exercise in patience. I used a clear acrylic medium to adhere the number to the plastic number board inserts. Then used the same medium to form a cover over the number.

You can print your own at home.

I use EXCEL. I print the # in a cell and then set the font to 3.5 to 4 with black background, the # is in white which shows through from the number board. I print on regular computer printer paper and afix to # board with Aleene's tacky glue which dries clear. Works well.

Thanks all! I should have mentioned that this method is not my idea but rather I learned it from a posting several years ago by John Sing. His is a very detailed "post".

Appreciate your replies guys, guess I got to used to my Japanese locos coming with a myriad of name and number boards that I can peel and stick!
I'll give it a go, just need to check my B&O books to come up with realistic numbers now
