Welcome back to the beginning of the weekend. I hope you are looking forward to a weekend where you can get projects done.

Saturday: I'm planning on meeting a few friends at my not so local hobby shop for a visit with the shop's owner and local FreeMo HO guy. Our goal is to determine what is needed as a whole for the local FreeMo association, so we can build modules that will add to what is already there. Currently, there are three of us who are going to build at least two, 2X4 foot modules. I might build a corner as long as I can design it to fit in the Focus. This local group has a gathering in October and my goal is to have at least track work done so I can run by then.

Sunday: Domestic duties will abound I'm sure, however, I'm also planning on working on the B&M layout. I have the upper valance and fascia installed, I just now need to finish the "box" by adding the hard board ends. Because of the old house, I'll have to use some creative wood working to get everything seamless. Who knows, I may even run a train or two. I also need to design a CTC board for my turnouts as, like the City Job, the turnout switches are separate from the layout.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 12th to see how we all did. Until then, have a fun but safe weekend and as always...

Happy Friday. Like you Jim, I'll have some "domestic" assignments given to me, but will still have plenty of time to spend on the layout. This weekend I have 3 goals:
    • Mount the bridge system I have been working on for (what seems like) eons. Cutting and fabricating supports for bridge walls, getting heights correct, etc are always the time consumer there.
    • Start work on a Funaro kit. Caboose for the Atlantic and Danville. I have a matched set of the RS36's Atlas had out for the A&D. The "Acey and Deucey" (#1 and 2) we used to call them when I grew along that railway in southern VA. I sometimes break them out and run them on my C&O layout just for nostalgia along w/ several A&D freight cars I've built. Anyway, the A&D was a subsidiary of the Southern and used some of their cabooses as well as left over freight cars in the 50's. F and C makes a kit of that caboose so I will build it and letter it for the A&D. This will take a while to build of course, but I want to start "chipping away" at it.
Here's the Southern RR caboose that was used on the A&D:

I find myself on the road for work this weekend, and thanks to my stellar packing abilities I have a partially built Lindburgh tow boat kit to finish and two N scale centerbeam flatcar kits (I think unpackaged Intermountain) to assemble for the layout.

I have a list and a half of things to complete. I hope to get the legs finished for the free-moN modules at least. I also need to get some more structure plans drawn up for the modules. I finally found a bunch of info on the Wendover Air Force Base in the Library of Congress. Monday will be a field trip to the field and museum to get photos and measurements. We will see what happens from there. If I have time I will get back to working on some HO stuff too.
