@RailMix Yes I have several covered wagon unit's f2a, f3a/b sets, f7a/b sets, f9a/b sets, Fp7, f45. As for the E unit not sure what purpose it'll have yet whether in the exec fleet, commuter fleet might even consider doing like the southern and say our passenger service kept going until 1980 staying out of Amtrak.
Here's a minor update been sick lately no fun no modeling Adding a couple of stripes/pinstripes to the long hood end of the unit. Let me know what you think
With the exception of the blue being somewhat lighter, the treatment of the hood looks much like the way the Pere Marquette did their SW1's and GE 70 Tonners. Very nice and plausible paint scheme..
Getting there white stripes trimmed in yellow does look pretty good. Thanks everyone. Didn't even realize about the PM close but different thanks.
Welp this GP30 is going a slightly different direction than what it started as and was going to be, i'll let the pic do the Splainin' lol. L8R Tater.
I give up on modeling a high hood GP30 cab disintegrated on me where it can't be repaired it. Just ordered a new GP30 shell from walthers $35 later, very few replacement parts for the older p2k unit's. Aaaaaargh
Okay switching to no scale these engines have been traded off for n scale power. This is the end of the line for my Ho builds. You can follow my power builds in the N scale section. Thanks
The N scale was short lived due to nerve issues with my hands. So back into HO scale I be coming and the first unit up is kinda setting the time for the direction i'm headed in now so with out further gabbing the pics speak for themselves. Enjoy all
So as I went to start this build I noticed that either the Atlas C424 is bigger or the Stewart shell is smaller. This includes cab length, height, width which is way more work than I want to do. So this C424 will continue on as a low nose. Onward so now my first unit I will be completing will be an F7B beater with a few years left until retirement. So till next update Chowda all
The C424 will get high hooded as soon as I can figure out what I need to do to it. In the meantime here's this kinda turned out decently. Still working on this hammer head. HI-TECH high hood and cab, atlas U33C shell, Athearn U-C chassis. Still a long says to go on this one Enjoy.
Okay the alco's have been traded off so when the trade power gets here I'll post them. In the meantime I re-found my found equipped proto GP7. And had fun disassembling it so I can strip the paint after I clean up the excess glue from China they used this is an older unit. Still working out where my layout will be set. So here's where the GP7's at. And need to clean the bench off over the next few days.
GP7 is in the staging Q. While looking in my few remnants of n scale I re-found my F2A and found a photo I'll be working off. Will be adding a DW winter hatch, found a fan assembly from a Stewart F7B so I cut and altered the roof fans. Like a modification had happened in the not to distant past, puttied the horn holes to mount better looking horn(s) on it. So enjoy as after I finish up a friends BN whiteface GP40-2 in n scale. Then sort out some tubs to get get a segment of my layout going. Then I can get back to working on the engines I now have.
Had to take a break from the tubs and building the modules. Here's that GP30 HH making an appearance again did some mods to a PNW HH Phase 2 GP30 resin cab and high hood. I have phase 1 GP30's so cut up the resin cab so I could keep the brow in and high hood portion to make my phase 1 GP30'S. Enjoy and new phone may turn pics sideways haven't figured it out yet.
Thanks Dale boxcab got me to thinking after I talked about the snoots. They are kinda unique to the roads that owned them. And now finally getting my HH GP30's figured out things are going to take a slight detour. The snoots will become SP/SSW UP KCS ATSF run thru /pool unit's. The SDP35 I have will now become an L&N pool unit to go with my SCL early U30B and GP38-2 set. Have a pair of SD40-2 BB's that are going to get high hooded along with some other unit's. Thanks for looking everyone
. Don't know who's dream your watching lol John Allen was a craftsman me I just wing it hoping it turns out
Well sizing it up before the chop Athearn BB SD40-2 cannon high hood test. Got my bondo on the go 30 found a few building flaws nothing major
