Bill Pearce mentioned making turnouts using a paper template vs. using one of Fast Tracks turnout fixtures in my thread on my first turnout I made. Thanks Bill for bringing that up. After reading that I decided to give it a try and after only doing one so far I can see more or in my future. Lots of possibilities using the wide range of turnout templates out there. Here are a couple construction pictures of the recently finished curved turnout .... You can find more pictures and a longer description at this link... http://1fatgmc.com/RailRoad/Trackwork/Trackwork-Index.html You can also find more pictures and info there on making the straight turnout and the one with individual ties that I posted about before. I decided to start documenting some of this on my web site. I've learned so much in a few months here your guys and from other's web sites so thought I'd try and contribute myself were I could, Sumner
Looking good. I will try to dig out the copy of my RMJ article and refresh my memory on the homemade jigs I used to make points and frogs. Think I can save you some money that might be better spent on locos and cars.
And I just remembered something. I used yellow carpenter's glue to hold down the track and ties. Just spread a thin layer on the cork and weight the tracl down for about a half hour and it's done. What really holds the track in place is the ballast with thinned white glue.
