    Hi there,
I'm Filippo from Italy (I beg your pardon for my English). I'm going to build an operative diorama (terminal station) in N gauge, and trying DCC++, with arduino UNO and motor shield Rev. 3 (all clones).
I'm having little problems with DCC++, mainly when i put my loco (an old Minitrix V60 with an Uhlenbrock 73405 soldered by myself) the decoder is not recognized and it starts running as it was an analogic loco with the power on, even on programming track. I have passed all diagnostic test (all LEDs blink in the right way) and I dont know what to do...
P.S. Is there a way to check the output signal from motorshield?
Thankyou in advance and I hope to become a valid member of this wonderful community.
    Filippo

Hi Filippo, welcome, glad to have you on board the Trainboard. I wish I could help you, but I'm a DC Dinosaur of 70+ years that just bought a DCC trolley and controller. So far all I can do is twist a knob and hope the trolley moves in any direction. I'm not critical.

But there are lots of members who can help you, some even in Italy. Good Luck, but first enjoy your hobby.

Welcome to Trainboard. Be sure the motor is all the way isolated from direct connection to the track power and only connected to the orange and gray wires from the decoder. Other than that, I can not think of anything that would cause the behavior you have described.

Thank you both for welcoming me.
I'll check the isolation (grater suspect) and all the wires but i'm pretty sure that I have soldered only gray and orange to the motor. I'll keep you informed about it.
    Thank you, Filippo.

As suggested by r_i_straw the main problem was isolation! Thank you so much. But now I have still little problems: unable to read and write cv either to recognize the decoder (error 308) but able to run on main track with default address adding the decoder in the rooster.
I'll post a new thread in the correct section.
    Thank you very much.

Are you trying to program on main Filipino? DCC++ doesn’t get feedback when programming on main.
Or do you have your programming track connected to the other terminals?
Also double check the jumper wires are in the right spot.

Welcome aboard, Filippo. As one of the few non-modelers here I cannot help you, but as you see already we have many knowledgable folks here who are always willing to help.
