Hello all, Eugene here from central Va. I'm going for the N scale trains. I use to be into rc planes years ago, I had to give it up do to money and space. Model trains can be enjoyed by everyone, especially operations. Gotta have a hobby to stay out of trouble. :sneaky:

Welcome aboard, Eugene. I was an aviation fan before I became a railfan.

Welcome aboard, Eugene! What's your favorite railroad, and what era and locale do you wish to model?

I would be too afraid of RC planes after seeing all those cash compilations on YouTube. I don’t blame you about cost. Seeing those big RC jets hit the ground is painful to the soul and the wallet. Your model building and electronic skills will come in handy with trains.

I like the modern era freight. Steam also interests me too. Norfolk Southern runs right through my area as well as CSX on occasion. I also like BNSF and Southern Pacific. Locale, i'm not sure, I like the mountain a desert scenery, plenty of bridges and tunnels.

No kidding on the crashes. I done a couple of those including one of my favorites. That was a sad day. All it takes is the wrong servo failure or a dumb mistake and its history and there goes a few hundred bucks or in the case of jets thousands and 10s of thousands. Planes were my pride joy for years but its time for a "cheaper" hobby. I love to tinker and build and I've always liked trains.
