Does anyone know if the green containers are removable from this car? It's a Kato. I would like to replace two of the containers with the Tomix tank containers. I can't figure out how the green containers come off, if they do.

Kato, Bandai, and Tomix containers should all be interchangable with each others cars. At least mine are and all the cars have small tabs on them that the containers snap onto. A gentle rocking motion should be able to free the containers from the car. Shown below is a Tomix container with the locking point highlighted with a marking pen that fits over the car tab.

I've tried rocking it, and sliding it. It slides up and back slightly, but doesn't slide off. I say "it", because all four containers are one unit.

Normally Kato, Tomix, and Bandai B train containers work with each others cars, also the cars can take different length containers. I would say It is just a very tight snap fit and you should be able to gently pry the containers loose to be able to run the car as empty. I would try a gentle prying at each middle point tab on the containers. Car should be able to take four separate 12 foot containers which see heavy use on Japan Rail. I have never encountered a container that wasn't a snap fit with Japanese container flats. But just in case check the underside of the car for possible screw mounts.

There should be tabs like are on the Bandai flat in the photo. I have a Tomix tank mounted on one of those.

I already checked the bottom for screws, no such luck.
