Hi all, I've been using MG chemicals brand liquid rosin flux to solder some of my rails at the joiners. I'm happy with the performance of it but the mess and stickiness is pretty bad. I've got a bottle of MG flux cleaner also, which does work eventually but takes 2-3 applications of pretty heavy saturation to remove all the stickiness. Are there any other brands or types of flux that are less messy, and won't cause corrosion issues in the future? thanks for any suggestions.
I use the H&N Electronics SuperSafe liquid flux: https://www.hnflux.com/ A 4oz bottle can last years. Use a micro brush to wet the rail / soldering pad / wire with less than a drop.
I use this paste-type flux from Radio Shack (yes, Radio Shack!): https://www.radioshack.com/products/rosin-soldering-paste-flux I bought the container years ago, but it still seems to work fine. I apply it sparingly with a toothpick. Cleanup is easy with a soft cloth. - Jeff
