There was a company in Denver named Merchants Biscuit Company who made Supreme Crackers... which among some other brands (Uneeda Biscuit) and Keebler had a manufacturing warehouse with significant rail traffic. Lots of different railcars would have served this facility. Intermountain Railway Co did the Merchants Biscuit Co 40' wood boxcars in May 2010. IRC did a six number run of them. 1 - New Cab Forward, 2 BLI F3's and an Atlas S2 with Sound. I think I have all I need now. Yea right!
It is not really something I bought but did find a small medicine dispenser that works great for spreading ballast. Joe
Neptune. lol That's a wash cloth I used for the photo backdrop. My first attempt was a white paper towel but it blended in too much with the dispenser. Joe
This came a couple weeks ago. I am on a moratorium for buying new train stuff as we are building a house next year but this was pre-ordered last year in 2018 so didn't count. KATO (Japan) ICE 4 basic 7 car set and 5 car expansion set. IMG_1107 (1) by chadbag posted Jun 7, 2019 at 4:50 PM IMG_1148 by chadbag posted Jun 17, 2019 at 5:27 PM
I have been eying the PIKO HO version as a possible purchase for the end of the summer. I thought the 12 car arrangement was strange considering their 8 car ICE 3 sets, but then again, I have heard about strain on the DB system too, which could explain their desire for longer train lengths.
Per Wikipedia, there are 7 car sets and 12 car sets. The 7 car sets have a max speed of 230 km/h (3 powered motor cars) and are meant to replace loco hauled trains and operate in Germany and some of them into the Netherlands. The 12 car sets have a max speed of 250 km/h (5 powered motor cars) and are to be certified for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The original tender was for a train that could be anywhere from 5 to 14 cars in length and originally 2 variants of trainsets were ordered, 7 and 10 car long, with the 10 later changed to 12. They also ordered a bunch of individual cars to presumably fill out sets. Interestingly the 8 car ICE 3 is 200m long approximately and the 7 car ICE 4 is 202m long, so about the same length. The ICE 3 cars are shorter. I'll be going to Germany and surrounding countries in early summer 2020 and hope to ride an ICE 4.
I have more information about the ballast spreader in my previous post. Went to Walgreens Pharmacy and found one that has an eye dropper with it for $3.99. If you go to the pharmacy counter they will give you a medicine dispenser for free. Can't beat that price. Joe

Acquired several N Scale cars, from a couple of TB members. Just recieved some diesel fuel storage tanks, a couple of tank car pump houses. Also a G Scale rerailer, that Mom absolutely loves!! Now, she’ll be able to put a train on the track for me, until I’m able to once again. And just acquired an Aristo Craft Rio Grande RS-3. Now, I gotta see if I can get an Airwire R/C board and sound!
I just received some Bluford models of Colorado & Southern (CB&Q) two bay hoppers which should go well with all my other hoppers found in Colorado... mainly D&RGW varieties. Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
I just purchased two Wheels of Time PC&F 50' exterior post insulated box cars in the Penn Central paint scheme, from my local hobby shop. The details and lettering on these cars is fantastic. The only problem is the body color does not look like PC deepwater green to my eye. It looks to me like it has a blue tint. When run alone the color on these cars are not apparent, but mixed with my Micro-Trains and Athearn PC cars, differences stand out. Now that opens another can or worms, pun intended, if you compare the Micro-Trains cars to the Athearn cars they are also different shades of deepwater green. So the question remains, which manufacturer is painting their rolling stock in the correct deepwater green color?
I agree that the blue tint is suspect, but the car's details do indeed look great. Like most color comparisons, I'll bet many shades of PC Deepwater Green are correct as seen on thousands of prototype cars of various ages and in varying light.
That color reminds me of an NYC car which did not seem to fit in with the usual Jade Green scheme I was typically familiar with. Perhaps there was a special use for this color variant... or just experimental. Since NYC and Pennsy merged to create PC... that same 'Teal Blue' color and purpose may have been transfered for a special reason. BTW... that color variation also had a 'script style' N Y Central lettering. Microtrains did a 50' single door boxcar several years ago road number 92101. Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
Wow, I never even thought to compare it to any of my other PC cars, but you're right, it is lighter. Oh well it'll be one less step to deal with when I get around to weathering it, won't have to fade it first.
That is a very good question. These cars are unique as they were purchased from PC&F for the Penn Central Merchant Despatch Transportation (MDT) service. I cannot find any info on weather PC used a special paint scheme for MDT, but before the merger MDT cars were painted either yellow or orange. I don't think they were ever painted in New York Central freight car colors?
Bought recently is a Kadee/M-T 38110 Bicentennial Boxcar celebrating South Carolina, my adopted home. This car dates from 1975 or '76 when Kadee/M-T produced collectable cars for each of the thirteen colonies. These cars aren't prized, so are inexpensive. I have a number of cars in the series from other states I've lived in, but lacked this one. I'm happy to finally have it. My how times have changed. The boxcar heralds our textile industry, which is gone and replaced by automobile, aircraft, tire and paper manufacturing.
