Dug this one out, taken from the inside of the Minnesota home of Milwaukee 161, back in 2009 when we brought SP 4449 to their house, later to continue to the big steam event in Michigan. Remember? 4449 ran a few trips from there. I went back home on Amtrak and missed the big event.

Me three. Doesn't matter. They are both gorgeous locomotives.

I have the tape of the 261 restoration. Absolutely fascinating, the intricacy and sheer labor. And to think, that stuff used to be done hundreds of times on a daily basis!

From far away, the BNSF unit looks Milwaukee Road.

These were my favorite of the more modern SP GE units. Nice shot. (y)

Speaking of Milwaukee Road Steamers, this image is a Jack Delano photo from the Library of Congress collection. Washing an L2-b Mikado in Bensenville, Ill, April, 1943.

Amtrak #7 was late leaving Minot today, but I still got a shot. I actually laid prone on the ground to get a low angle. Something new from a familiar location.

    "Amtrak's Late....Again"
Nearly an hour late, Amtrak #7 wastes no time getting up to track speed on its way leaving Minot. Rokinon 14mm.

Thought this loco was kinda' cool, says GP25X on the side, but probably an ex-Santa Fe GP39X, maybe? MVIMG_20190617_140904.jpg IMG_20190617_140857.jpg MVIMG_20190617_140849.jpg
Found these two on the local here in Kent, Wa today.(y)

Great shots! That looks really good in the swoosh scheme. (y)

Actually, I believe that unit was formerly a GP40X which was basically a test bed for the GP50. I know both NS and ATSF both had them. not sure if any other RR's had them.
