I have just joined. I only began modelling late last year after my wife said that I would need a hobby when I retire. She had not been aware of my model RR interest, probably because I knew better than to share that in our first 35 (or is it 36.5) years of married life when she was not keen of that hobby. I am avidly reading, watching great YouTube videos, buying tools, and making mistakes while trying to learn some model-building skills (in styrene and cardstock). I live in Wellington, New Zealand, but I did study for one post-graduate year in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan. David

Hi David, welcome. I agree with Joe, don't hide modeling from your wife. I got back into trains early in our marriage and my wife, an artist, surprised me by building a lovely pond scene.
