Hello This is Mirco. I'm new to the board and would like to take the chance to introduce myself. Living in northern Germany, I freelance in N scale, as well as in HO scale. My fictional BC Northern Railway (hence my board name) allows me to research and model railroading in British Columbia. I enjoy scale modeling and designing stuff for 3d printing. After 10+years of 3d modeling for the enjoyment of rendering illustrations for games, actually producing physical models is extremely inspiring. Only recently I stumbled over DCC++ and the world of Arduino based micro controllers . I'm a total beginner programming these things, though. Producing a DCC central station or accessory decoders based on this technology is just too tempting to ignore, I suppose. Cheers from Central Europe, Mirco
Hi Mirco, welcome, glad to have you on board. I know nothing of DCC, but there are many here that will be more than happy to work with you.
Mirco, your 3D modeling might prove very useful for a layout like the Tumbler Ridge electrification with the GF6C units. https://flic.kr/p/2et9bZv and https://flic.kr/p/2dqVSzc
@HemiAdda2d - That's geographically pretty "close" to what I have in mind with my freelanced BC Northern Railway, which basically picks up what the BCR/CN left behind. The (projected) route up north to Dease Lake/Takla Sub. And then tying together a few other former (Portland Canal Short Line - PCSL from Stewart up north) and future Lines (proposed Canada Stewart Port Railway from Kitwanga to Stewart). As well as a completely fictional and only barely reasonable connection between Meziadin Jct. and somewhere along the Takla Sub, mostly paralleling existing highways where possible. @Danke, es ist schön im Forum dabei zu sein (Thanks, it's nice to be part of the forum). So far, there is not much modeling to show off. I'm armchair model railroading at the moment. However working from home recently presented me with a few additional hours per week for the hobby. So that might change in the near future.
