BarstowRick: I'm still waiting for MFRs to do the same thing. Come up with a rather 'standard' mech and then 3D print the correct shell for the various railroads. Why is this taking so long?

Just do a search on 'superturbine 4-8-4' and you'll see a lot of his castings and work; posts here and on other forums. It's been mentioned that he originally designed it for the Kato GS-4 chassis.

With the internet handles here I can't tell, but is this the superturbine resin shell and tender I just recently sold? I have a Hallmark 3751 that I put a lot of work into, so while those resin parts were wonderful, I still didn't need another.

Also a reminder that if you're looking for those oddball trucks in end-axle full pickups, check out atsfnscalemodels.com

That's the only thing that saved my Jamco 4-6-2 from a failed project, even the 12K six-wheel trucks are completely unique.

While there's a definite tendency for Kato (and other manufacturers) to go for US steam that's still operational, and the 2926 is getting close... I still haven't heard any solid rumors. It still depends more on the Japanese N market than the US.

The other thing that might help you is that the GMM etched brass detail sheet has running board steps, nicely done, in etched brass, which should be able to take the beating that styrene or resin can't take on those front steps. When I had a Bachmann 4-8-4 I broke the running board steps more times than I care to remember.

Jason should seriously come back into the community. Really, his UP 9000 shell looks brilliant.

I keep up with him on one of the social media sites. In the last few years he has gone through a lot of family upheaval, new wife, new kid and everything that goes along with that. I would hope that once things settle down, he will get back into his modeling again and provide us with some cool stuff.

    Indeed. Imagine what could’ve been...
In the meanwhile, my 2926 only needs the painting. The weight has been fabricated.

He probably won't, but who knows. Hopefully he will. I was looking for his 2900 class castings for a while until I finally scored a pair, the ones used on this model here.

and the 9000 class boiler is from my master I built in 2007ish
and for petes sake, put that casting on a kato FEF or GS4 mechanism. that's the whole reason we were working on the 4-8-4s back in the day. we needed them for our conversions

sorry, the reason I chose the b-mann was because I cannot afford one of those Katos at the moment, sadly. ive seen your work on the 9000 class boiler from older threads, my goodness it looks actually really good.
