A C-9 class Consolidation kit bashed from a Bachmann 2-8-0. I built up what they called a "Clear View" tender. The oil bunker was narrow and relatively small but the crew could easily see around it for backup moves. The prototype was built by Baldwin in January of 1906 and placed in service on March 7, 1906. It was scrapped in Houston on April 1, 1953.

Good Morning from cloudy, cool and rainy Northeast Ohio!

Got a couple of more cars done this week!

First is a West Indies Fruit Boxcar, the West India Fruit company was started in 1946 as a car ferry operation between Palm Beach, FL and Havana Cuba. Started out with some used PRR X29 type cars and some old reefers. These cars were purchased in 1952 from ACF and utilized ACF Roof and Carbuilder ends. This operation ended in 1962 after the Cuba embargo stopped operations. Car is an IMRC 40' AAR Welded side boxcar kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red paint and lettered with Speedwitch Media decals.

Next another P&LE PS2 2893CF Covered Hopper (Athearn) kit, painted in the latter scheme after the PC merger. While part of the PC the P&LE still operated as a separate railroad and was spun off as the PC owed the P&LE some $16 Million after the bankruptcy. Kit was painted with Scalecoat II UP Covered Hopper Gray and lettered with Microscale Decals.

Tangent PS3 Hopper car kit under construction, most of the basic car is complete, all that is needed is to add all the detail parts.

    Thanks for looking!

The consolidation was a very handy branchline and local engine, often with a light axle loading. Many comparatively old 2-8-0's lasted to the end of steam. Nice kitbash.

Nice. Very reminiscent of John Allen's G&D.

One of my dogs just had a fit until I would stop to let him wet a tree. I think he knew a train was nearby and I would appreciate that. 20180804_202222.jpg

I finally got to see how these Walthers Mainline F units could pull the grade on the model railroad club in Livingston, MT last week. With both units powered, it easily could handle 35 cars on the two and a ha;f percent grade.

This scene is so pensive. Almost melancholy.
