I have some Key Imports mostly brass made-in-Japan by Microcast N scale SD40-2s from the 1980s. I've gotten to the point where I'd like to convert them to DCC, but my first obstacle is shell removal -- the whole floor of the unit is a circuit board, and it's not clear which screws remove the shell and which unscrew the motor. Does anyone have experience with this?
Perhaps Spookshow has some information at his site. http://www.spookshow.net/loco/keyendosd.html It seems that just two screws need to be removed.
That seems to be it, thanks! From the photo, it looks like DCC conversion will involve cutting some traces on the chassis PC board. Has anyone done this?
Not on that particular loco but would love to. Done exactly what you plan on many others, including Atlas and Kato PC boards. Works every time.
