    Hi all

I search for my canadian (British Columbia) N scale layout North American animals, especially moose, elk and grizzly bear. I've brown bears from Preiser, but they are not so great o_O. The black bears from Woodland...are just so acceptable. The highlight would be a bald eagle, but we do not dream of times.

Other than some cast metal Buffalo I have never run across anything suitable for an elk, or moose. There are some ducks made and I have made Beavers from HO scale metal rats. The rats are the right size and I get the tail by hammering out the rat tail to a flat tail.

Kurt, you are correct. Mark Watson, using his home 3D printer has done a few animals. I hope I am not out of bounds here but I post an image he has posted. I am a big fan of all his work.

So am I...except the raccoon. Raccoons are evil and should die, die, die.

Aw, come on now Jeff, that raccoon would look great on any layout placed just under the front bumper of a tractor trailer. :D JK

    Also a fan of Mark's work. (y)

That's not good Jeff, sorry to hear that Haven't heard much about raccoons taking out other animals. In my area, it's mainly the coyote's that are bad about that. So, I feel the same way about coyote's unless of course, they are chasing a road runner. :D

We have bobcats and coyotes and possums and the occasional mountain lion but while all of the before mentioned animals may kill a chicken or a duck, that's all they kill...enough for them to eat for a night and I see it as the cost of living in the country (we all got to eat). Raccoons are the only animal that will kill every chicken in the hen house, eat the 'gourmet' parts of one or two chickens and then just leave. I used to think they were cute when I lived in the city, but now that I live among them, I have seen their true colors (and really nasty big teeth). I strongly believe in live and let live, but when you kill just to kill, you can expect the same in return from me. Hope this doesn't offend anyone and sorry for the side-track.

Didn't know that about raccoons! Not offensive to me. It is what it is. :)

Raccoons tend to be the biggest, baddest critters at our outdoor feeders. They like to climb up to the feeder and dump all of the feed on the ground. Then, they sit there and chow-down for over an hour. They are able to scare-off any other animal that is interested in the feed, including all birds, squirrels and even large deer. However, they do run when they see me. I do know that they sometimes kill dogs if the dogs are stupid enough to chase them into water - they drown the dogs.
