...which end is the front?! Took the shell off to inspect it, and can't remember which end is the cab!!
Wouldn't those little "lugs" on the frame sides, just above the trucks, dictate which way the shell goes on? Mark in Oregon
Thank you, but now I realized the M-T GP9 body is slightly different from the GP35 body, won't fit. Anyone need a Milw GP9 shell, brand new?
Machining the chassis is an option if you really want to use that shell. Where there is a will, there is a way!
I just got the GP35,(Santa Fe scheme), for $25.00 off of Epay, so figured I could turn it into a Milw GP9. Nope, doesn't fit.
If I remember, you only need to take a little off the end, mostly the very end length, were it is thinnest. A good woo woo woo file, belt sander (don't get it hot !!!) should do it. Remove all the motor drive components.
the chassis for the GP9 and GP35 are identical in manufacture but the nose of the GP9 chassis has a bit shorter to fit the shorter shell, I have made the change a couple of times with a hand file just make sure you clean the gap between halves if the chassis when you are done so there is no short from file grit left in the space. There are pictures around showing the difference which I took when GP 9's first came out. GP9 chassis is about an 8th shorter than the GP35, so decoder boards are the same as is the light board
